Frequently Asked Questions

Although described as an aligner, Cfast is much more similar to traditional braces than the aligner trays you get with Invisalign treatment.

CFast treatment utilises clear orthodontic brackets that adhere to the teeth and tooth-coloured nickel-titanium wires that go between them, offering a discreet option that uses gentle pressure to change the alignment of your most visible teeth.

Invisalign, on the other hand, uses moulded aligners or retainer trays. These trays are changed every few weeks and gradually realign your teeth into their final new position. So named because of the ‘invisible’ aligner trays, Invisalign can be harder to notice, but takes much longer than CFast, because they concentrate on moving more, if not all, of the teeth.

This makes CFast aligners in Swindon much cheaper and allows patients to see results much faster – which is why it is often preferred.

The biggest downside to traditional braces is the tenderness some patients experience. A very successful orthodontic solution, to be sure, but this discomfort often puts patients off.

CFast aligners use a similar bracket and wire technology, but thanks to the focus on aesthetics and the Social Six rather than the whole mouth, discomfort levels with CFast are said to be much lower, and sometimes patients don’t report soreness at all.

This is because the treatment focuses on correcting minor, aesthetic issues on a small number of teeth rather than severe dental problems, such as an overbite, which will involve moving all of the teeth.

If you are worried about soreness, we would advise you to discuss all possible options with our dental professionals when you come in to chat about your CFast aligners in Swindon.

Unlike removable braces which you can take out while you eat, the Cfast aligner stays in the mouth permanently for a series of months. This, unfortunately, does mean that your diet may need to change for the duration of your Cfast aligner in Swindon

However, the foods you need to avoid are limited - and if you can’t avoid them completely, cutting them into smaller bitesize pieces will make them safer and easier to eat. These foods include:

  • Popcorn, nuts, crackers, and pretzels
  • Hard taco shells, croutons, hard or crusty rolls, and pizza
  • Sticky and hard candy or chocolate
  • Hard cookies
  • Chewing gum
  • Ice
  • Raw vegetables and hard fruits

This slight tweak in your diet will only last a few months and will give you the best chance at keeping your braces in the best condition, helping them correct your teeth quickly.
