Whats involved?
Crowns are a restorative and cosmetic solution that allows you to eat with ease. Treatment helps repair teeth that have been damaged or lost through decay, or chipped in an accident. Crowns, or caps as they are sometimes known, are porcelain or composite covers for damaged or unsightly teeth. They are carefully crafted to look natural, blend in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth and can eliminate dark metallic lines around the gums.
At Marlborough Dental Studio we have invested in a Cerec machine that allows us to create perfectly colour-matched crowns in a single appointment.
Veneers can provide an instant boost to your smile – with treatment often completed in just one visit. Veneers are ideal for treating unsightly, cracked, or discoloured teeth, and can also be used to help close gaps between teeth. They can also improve the appearance of misaligned teeth.
They are thin shells of ceramic, a little like false nails for teeth, and are bonded to the front of your tooth. They can be used to hide discolouration and close gaps, with little or no work being needed on the tooth itself, making them kinder to teeth than other cosmetic treatments. Layers of the translucent, ceramic porcelain allow light to shine through, resulting in brighter, natural-looking teeth. When used on multiple teeth, veneers can dramatically re-model your entire smile.
Restorative dentistry treatments also include composite fillings and cosmetic bonding. We are a mercury free practice, which means we don’t offer traditional amalgam (metal) fillings. Instead all of our fillings are colour-matched to your teeth for a more aesthetically pleasing outcome. White fillings are stronger and more durable than amalgam and we use white composite or porcelain restorations, called inlays and onlays.
Composite bonding conserves healthy tissue and naturally strengthens the remaining tooth providing a quick, painless and reversible solution to cosmetic problems, such as gaps, chips and discolouration. Layers of super-strong and long lasting, tooth-coloured filling material is perfectly matched and built up to look like natural teeth – with amazing results.
